Good day to ya'll.
I hope that all those who follow this blog are having a good day. :-)
Sunday (19th) went quite well... after service and the pot luck most of the people went home so we were able to spend the afternoon at the lake and enjoyed playing in the water without so many people around. :-)
Lydia and I went down and spent a day at camp in the kitchen again(Mon. 20th). We helped out with all the meals for that day and then I rolled out around 100 tortillas... I thought my wrist were going to fall off by the time I got done. The dough was really stiff and about like elastic, you'd stretch it out and it'd bounce back.... so you can imagine how it felt rolling out 100 of them. (actually it was over 100, the head cook said I rolled about 130 or so, but 100 is an easier number for me... LOL!) But in-spite of my aching arms I did enjoy being able to help out again. I haven't lost my enthusiasm for the camp yet. :-) Carrol Stepan brought us home again.... We got home around 9:30 or so.... kind of late but the kitchen work didn't end till then. :-)
I have an unspoken prayer request for you all.... Just pray for wisdom about a situation up here, especially for us older girls. Thanks very much. :-)

Greetings
Sat. 18th.....Well so far we've been having nice weather. It's been hot enough that the kids went into the dugout for a bit of a swim and wading. :-) They sure enjoyed cooling off.
On our way home from town (16th) we stopped by Wildside Honey (Stehr's place) to get two buckets of honey while we were there Sandra asked if I wanted another horse? She had a two year old paint filly that was blind in her left eye due to being kicked out when the filly was a young foal. I looked her over and said that I'd get back with Sandra the next day.
The 17th was Uriah's 6th birthday.... the kids sure grow fast. :-) We made Pizza and Ellie had made ice cream on the 16th, all in all a very good dinner. :-)
Yesterday (17th) we gardened some, then all but Jesse and Naomi went to do some horse stuff.... went down and checked out a horse that Miller's want Lydia to put miles on, then went over and saw the stud that Muckers and Millie are being bred to. We dropped by Stehr's on the way back from the stud but they weren't home Dad asked the hired guy if he's have them call when they got home. They ended up calling about the time we made it home.... so after Mom fed the baby she drove Ellie, Lydia and I down to walk Shiloh back. Shiloh had only been on lead four times before so I was a bit skeptical about the 2 ¼ miles home but she behaved very well.
Today Mom and I weeded the 8 rows of carrots... I can tell my hands aren't used to the hoe... I've had a year of taking it easy, and I ended up getting some blisters on my hands... Tomorrow wont be any garden work so I'll get a rest. :-) After lunch I visited with Shiloh, just getting to know her better I'll try working with her tomorrow evening after church and then maybe let her out on Monday. Lydia, Ellie and I helped Dad take a tractor tire apart.... inner tube and rim out. The outside rubber the girls will fill with gravel and use for horse playing. The inner tube we'll try to wash/soak in soap and water to cut the calcium so we can use it for the dugout. :-) I had been intending to scythe some grass before supper but Dad wanted to sharpen the scythe and by the time he was done it was time to eat, so after eating and helping him get the tire apart, I scythed some grass. Not much but I'll do more on Monday.... I hate to see all the grass go to waste, we have nothing to cut it with and no one's been asking to cut our field so I'll just scythe a bit and make myself feel better not letting it all go to waste. :-)
That's about it for now. Have a great day.

Hey there
Hi there....
The day at the camp kitchen went great. (we helped out there on the 13th) Lyds and I had lots of fun and we told them to holler for us if they needed us again. :-) We have to put the food on the kids' plates so they don't contaminate other peoples' food if they haven't washed their hands, so that was a new experience for us. But it went fine and we didn't make any messes. LOL! :-) Dad and Eugene had dropped us off but Carrol Stepan (I think that's how you spell their last name) and her son Jay brought us home. (Jay's 15) When we got home we found that Dad and Eugene had installed the Rust Buster (a special filter for all the iron in our water) but that we had no water again. After an hour or so the well had filled in again so we're back into water for now. Not sure what Dad will be doing about the well running dry, guess we'll just see. :-) That night (Eugene and Blair stayed another night) Lydia was sick... from 1:30 am till 6:00 am she threw up every 10 -15 minutes... So I worked out a small system.... Lydia would throw up in one bowl I'd take it and hand her the other one, take the yuck out and dump it rinse the bowl and sink, spray both with lysol and then 10 minutes later do it all over again. :-{ Naomi got sick last night but she didn't have it as hard as Lydia only throwing up 4 times. Dad and Mom both feel like they might get it as well. So far I'm holding out. Jesse, Ellie, Martha, Sara and I seem to be the only ones that aren't feeling bad. Last night I was so tired from being up all night and not having a nap during the day that I was feeling bad as well, but this morning I'm feeling OK. Not perfect but I'm not sick yet. :-) Please pray that we'll all heal soon and those of us who aren't sick don't get it. :-) Thanks.
It was rainy yesterday so I wasn't able to weed the carrots. They look pretty bad. Not very many of them have come up... But they have to be weeded any ways. :-) Hopefully it will clear off today so I can weed a row or two. I want to go gather rose petals again as well. :-) But that could wait a day if need be... I need to get at least one more harvesting of Nettles in before the plants go to flower so I might have to do that today in stead of rose petals. :-)
Nothing else happening around here... So I'll close for now.

Hi
Been weeding the garden, harvesting stinging nettles, cleaning house, celebrating Lydia's 17th Birthday.... and today (10th) I went and got a gallon pail full of wild rose petals.... I love that smell of roses, I wonder if that will be one of the scents that God has in Heaven... probably something much better though. :-) I want to harvest as many as I can.... there's never to many dried rose petals. I would like to get some rose essential oil (which is extremely expensive unless diluted by a carrier oil) and make some soap this winter.... rose petal soap. :-) I'm always interested in novelties. :-) I have made a plain calendula petal soap with no scent, one orange, and one lemon and grape fruit soap... I do enjoy experimenting at times. :-)
Our weather has been rather chilly here, past two days we've gotten a bit of rain (Ellie and I were caught out walking... we came home already showered... LOL! ) Today it was partly sunny and very windy, thankfully it died down in the evening so my rose petals didn't get scattered across the country. :-)
The garden didn't come very well... the main reason is because we got it in so late. Hopefully next year we'll get it in on time and maybe be able to start our own plants in the little green house thing we have... I once started popcorn and indian corn (for corn meal) and they went very well for being starts and also long growing days. I'm hoping that sometime we'll get a green house but that is very very unlikely to happen even in the next few years... we never have money or time to make of buy one. :-) So I'll have to be content with what I have and be glad that we can actually still garden. :-)
Okay I'll run now... take care and many blessings on you. :-)

recipe
Hey ya'll, try this recipe.... I'd love to see how it tastes someday. :-)
Strawberry ice
(Can be made a day ahead)
1 cup hot water
¾ c. sugar
2 Tbsp. Fresh lemon juice
3 c. sliced strawberries.
Mix hot water, sugar and lemon juice in a small bowl until sugar dissolves. Blend 3 cups strawberries in a processor of blender until smooth. Add sugar syrup and blend until combined. Pour into 9x13- inch baking pan. Freeze for about 25 minutes or until icy around edges. Using fork, pull icy portions into middle of pan. Repeat this step evey 20 minutes until all liquid is frozen into flaky, loose crystals. Cover and freeze. When ready to serve, use fork again to scrape crystals into bowls and garnish with berries. Serves about 6. Enjoy. :-)

We're in WA
Hi there....
We made almost 17 hours of driving yesterday (29th) and so far we've made 11 hours... not to Grandpa and Grandma Holter's place yet. Probably an hour or 2 hours till we get there. It's 7:30 WA time right now. Yesterday Ruth threw up all over herself.... and some on me as well. Not my favorite thing to have happen to me. :-/ LOL! But today she's been doing good and keeping her food inside. :-) We stayed at our old place in Lakeside, MT.... the people who bought the place are renting it out and the renters left the place to us for the night and morning.... so we didn't get to see any of them.
Ahhh.... July 1st here..... Happy Canada Day for those who live there. :-) I love the layout of Grandpa and Grandma's house. Two bedrooms, a master bath and then a full main bath. The kitchen, dining room and living room are all in one big area, very airy and open. The boys and Grandpa are sleeping down in the double widee mobile home, Cilla slept with Grandma, Mom and Dad with Sara have the bedroom and 6 of us girls slept in the living room, on sofas and airmattresses.. Lydia, Ellie, and Cilla are sick with colds and it's still threatening me. Today Mom, Grandma, Sara, Lydia, Naomi and I are going into town to get ice cream ingredients, and to stop at a health food store to pick up some Vit. C, D3 and zinc as well as some LDM..... which is a herd concentrate that you dilute in water and take for sickness... colds, flu, ear aches and so on. It helped us lots last time we had it in Bonners Ferry so we're hoping to find it here. Well any how that's what we're up to right now.... Hopefully we can go practice music tomorrow and then Friday's the big day... we were even put in the bulletin about the anniversary celebration... great. LOL! Please pray that we'll get better in time for our singing. :-) Thanks.
